A storytelling project that highlights positive and resilient stories of people living in Masiphumelele.

 

Stories of artists, sports coaches, business owners and other inspiring individuals and organizations. Masiphumelele is a township on the Cape Peninsula, South Africa, situated between Kommetjie, Capri Village and Noordhoek. Initially known as Site 5, the township was renamed Masiphumelele by its residents, which is a Xhosa word meaning “let us succeed”.

We worked together with Grade 11 Masi Senior School learners and mentors from the township. While the Grade 11 learners informed, educated, and showed the daily experiences of living in this township we were tasked to document and capture these beautiful moments found in Masiphumelele
